Claude & ChatGPT (MCP)

Before you start

Connect in Claude

  1. Open Settings → Connectors and add freightcode®, or add a custom connector with the URL https://mcp.freightcode.co.uk/mcp.
  2. Click Connect and sign in with your freightcode® account.

What the assistant can do

List declarations

Permission: Read declarations

Lists your organisation's declarations: reference, LRN, MRN, type, status, description and dates.

Get declaration

Permission: Read declarations

Shows one declaration and its HMRC notifications (type, timing, error codes, payment amount and deadline). An accepted submission is not clearance.

Suggest HS codes

Permission: Tariff tools

Suggests 10-digit UK commodity codes for a goods description. Suggestions are AI-generated; confirm the code before you use it.

Duty and preference estimate

Permission: Tariff tools

Calculates duty and any tariff preference for a commodity code, country of origin and customs value, using freightcode®'s tariff engine.

The assistant cannot create, submit, amend or cancel declarations. Those actions stay in freightcode®.

Organisations

If you belong to one organisation, the assistant uses it automatically. If you belong to several, the assistant asks which organisation to use.

Example prompts

Privacy and disconnecting

Only the fields listed above are shared with the assistant; account numbers, addresses and raw HMRC messages are never sent. See section 5 of our Privacy Policy. To stop access, disconnect freightcode® in your assistant's connector settings.
